The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) (LPSK) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

DENPASAR, BALI EXPRESS – The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) (LPSK) provided cosmetology and culinary training to around twenty victims of the Bali Bombing and other crimes. This training took place, Wednesday (25/11) at the Bali Governor’s office.

Chairman of LPSK, Hasto Atmojo Suroyo, explained that this training was his party’s effort to fulfill the psychosocial rights of victims of criminal acts. What is meant by psychosocial rights is an effort to restore the social and economic conditions of victims of criminal acts as well as their psychological well-being.

“So that the victim and his family can survive. For example, there is a victim of a crime. And the victim is the head of the family. Of course there will be an economic shock for the family,” explained Hasto.

In this position, LPSK helps and facilitates so that the victim’s family can continue to carry out their daily lives. This is done by contacting local governments, ministries or philanthropic institutions. “For example, their children can receive job training so that their family can survive in the future or business capital assistance,” he added.

Furthermore, he continued, after this training they are expected to be able to open a business to restore their family’s socio-economic condition.

Moreover, according to him, some of the training participants received compensation from the state so that the training they participated in and the compensation they received were expected to be used as business capital.

So far, he said, the assessment process for the Bali Bombing victims has been completed. The total is 39 people. They are victims of terrorism.

“Those are just (victims of) terrorism. We also serve other victims such as sexual violence, abuse and other criminal acts. If there are victims who have not been registered, have not been identified, please contact LPSK,” appealed Hasto.

Through this synergy and initiative, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) hopes that the programs implemented can provide real benefits, open up wider opportunities for independence for participants, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
