The Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Pertamina Training and Consulting are always committed to supporting strengthening community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.
, JAKARTA – Invigorating the entrepreneurial and greening movement, PT Pertamina Training and Consulting (PTC) and the Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) held hydroponic training for the people of the Jabodetabek area.
Through the green economy, training participants who belong to underprivileged communities, including housewives, people with disabilities, those who have dropped out of work, former prison residents and young people who have dropped out of school are able to become independent entrepreneurs.
This hope was conveyed by the Assistant Manager for Corporate Communication & CSR of PT PTC, Olivia Steffinda Lasut at the Grand Harvest of Hydroponic Vegetables at Sanggar DayaHumanity, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta on Wednesday (13/10/2021).
On this occasion, training on cooking healthy chicken noodles free of preservatives was also held by Sri Wahyuni as the mentor.
As well as evaluating hydroponic training by Ir. Dwi Astuti Setyaningrum as training facilitator.
“This harvest is part of a series of PT Pertamina Training and Consulting’s Social and Environmental Responsibility events which began with hydroponic training,” said Olivia on Thursday (14/10/2021).
“This is in line with community empowerment through the use of space for urban agriculture. We hope that with a big harvest as well as training in cooking organic vegetables, we can foster an entrepreneurial spirit and strengthen the family economy,” he hoped.
Through the Social and Environmental Responsibility scheme, he continued, PT PTC collaborates with YIIM to empower communities to achieve family economic independence.
Hydroponic training was chosen as one of the social entrepreneurship trainings as an implementation of the use of small land as urban agriculture.
Apart from that, it is an effort to reduce household carbon emissions and the surrounding environment.
“Hydroponics training began on August 27 2021 online for two days and continued with a monitoring program with a total of 17 participants selected through a series of selection processes,” said Olivia.
“Online hydroponics participants receive planting media equipment as a form of direct practice and are monitored continuously until harvest time. The hydroponic plants sown are mustard seeds, lettuce, kale and spinach,” he explained.
He further explained that PTC and YIIM had distributed installations of hydroponic planting media and vegetable seeds to the communities supported by Sanggar DayaHumanity as many as five installation units.
Then the next stage will be to distribute five installations and seeds each to four other communities.
These include the Reading Park Community for Residents of Rumpin Village, Bogor, the Street Children’s Community Assisted by the Pertiwi Child Development Foundation at Pasar Minggu.
Furthermore, the Indonesian Mandiri Disabled Foundation and the community of underprivileged residents assisted by the Future Generation Creative House in Ciputat.
“Each was given five installations and vegetable seeds. So in total there will be 40 installations of hydroponic growing media for five communities which will be handed over by PTC and YIIM as capital infrastructure assistance for healthy vegetable growing businesses,” he explained.
It is hoped that through hydroponic training it will not be finished at harvest time, but will become a sustainable activity that produces results.
Therefore, his party will continue to make efforts to monitor the development of hydroponic training, so that an independent, entrepreneurial community can be formed through a green economy.
