A total of 24 participants from underprivileged communities and socially and legally vulnerable groups took part in the Perfume Entrepreneurship Training on September 9 to 10, 2026, at the Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun Office in South Jakarta.

This initiative forms part of the Skilled and Empowered Community Program (MATA), organized in partnership with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT). The session was attended by YIIM Board Member Diantini Rahayu and Head of CSR Department at PT Insight Investments Management Muhammad Isnaeni Setiawan.

Seizing Opportunities in the Fragrance Market

The program responds to the steady growth of the domestic fragrance industry. Recent market data shows tens of millions of perfume units sold across online marketplaces, signaling strong consumer demand. This momentum presents accessible business opportunities for individuals seeking sustainable livelihoods with modest startup capital.

Over two intensive days, participants learned the fundamentals of scent profiles and fragrance notes, formulation techniques for Eau de Parfum and Eau de Cologne, and the process of crafting reed diffusers. Beyond product compounding, instructors delivered practical training on micro-business operational management and basic digital marketing strategies.

Practical Compounding and Business Seed Support

Trainers Susgiharti and Dewi Susilowati from Aneka Parfum guided participants through hands-on blending sessions. Attendees practiced ingredient measurement ratios, bottle sterilization standards, and scent longevity testing.

To support early-stage business launches, organizers distributed business starter kits containing fragrance concentrates and perfume bottles to selected participants.

Representatives from the Class I Central Jakarta Correctional Center (Bapas Kelas I Jakarta Pusat) also attended the event, highlighting the training’s strong suitability for correctional clients.

“This perfume training does not demand high capital investment, making it practical and viable for our clients. We hope to collaborate with YIIM soon to organize similar initiatives,” noted a representative from Bapas Kelas I Jakarta Pusat.

Post-Training Mentorship and Sustainable Impact

Empowerment continues through a one-month post-training mentoring phase. Instructors work alongside graduates to refine formulation consistency, track operating expenses, and develop direct sales channels.

This initiative directly supports SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
