Strengthening Teachers’ Digital Literacy Through the Implementation of the GEMA Digital Inspirasi Pilot Program
Initiated by YIIM with Yayasan Inspirasi as the implementing collaborator, the GEMA (Gerakan Mengajar) Digital Inspirasi pilot program empowers teachers with digital literacy and ethical AI training in West Java.

The commitment to accelerating educational advancement across Indonesia continues to gain momentum through strategic social collaborations. This meaningful progress was marked by the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the GEMA (Gerakan Mengajar) Digital Inspirasi Program between the Indonesian Inspiration Building Foundation (YIIM) and INSPIRASI Foundation on Monday, 29 June 2026. The program was initiated and spearheaded by YIIM, partnering with Yayasan Inspirasi as the implementing collaborator responsible for technical execution and field mentoring.
The collaborative agreement was signed directly by the Chairman of YIIM, Normansyah Kusuma, and the Executive Director of INSPIRASI Foundation, Patrya Pratama. Through this strategic partnership, both organizations unite their resources to support teacher capacity building in regional areas, empowering educators to remain adaptive to technological advancements and modern pedagogical needs.
Empowering Teachers with Digital Literacy
Initiated by YIIM, the GEMA (Gerakan Mengajar) Digital Inspirasi Program was established as a dedicated empowerment endeavor aimed at enhancing the digital literacy skills of school teachers. In an era of rapid educational technology evolution, digital proficiency serves as a critical foundation enabling educators to deliver creative, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences tailored to their students.
Through structured training modules and continuous mentoring carried out alongside Yayasan Inspirasi as the implementing partner, the program guides teachers in utilizing digital educational tools, online learning platforms, and technology-driven teaching methodologies to enrich classroom interactions.
Training on Ethical and Responsible AI for Educators
A vital pillar within the GEMA Digital Inspirasi curriculum is comprehensive training on the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. From an educator’s standpoint, integrating AI extends far beyond technical proficiency; it requires a grounded understanding of ethics, pedagogical integrity, and professional responsibility.
The training equips teachers to navigate AI tools thoughtfully and critically—from developing adaptive learning materials and formulating fair assessments to safeguarding student data privacy. Furthermore, educators are guided to leverage AI as an empowering pedagogical co-pilot that enriches classroom engagement without replacing the essential human connection of teaching, while instilling strong ethical standards to uphold academic integrity across school communities.
Pilot Project in Two Regencies
As an initial implementation phase, the GEMA Digital Inspirasi Program is being rolled out as a pilot project focused on two regencies in West Java: West Bandung Regency and Cianjur Regency.
Targeting these two regions allows the program to closely examine real-world challenges encountered by regional educators when adopting digital tools and AI applications. The insights and evaluation generated from this pilot initiative will serve as a robust benchmark to refine the training curriculum, enabling the GEMA Digital Inspirasi Program to scale sustainably to broader districts and provinces across Indonesia in subsequent phases.
Institutional Synergy for Quality Learning
As the initiator of the program, YIIM aligns its educational dedication with Yayasan Inspirasi (INSPIRASI Foundation) serving as the key implementing collaborator. As a non-profit foundation dedicated to transforming school leadership and enhancing teacher competencies across Indonesia, INSPIRASI Foundation brings proven experience and technical depth in supporting educators to elevate student learning outcomes.
The MoU signing ceremony was accompanied by in-depth program design and technical alignment sessions between leadership and program teams from both organizations. This synergy ensures that every phase of the training program is well-calibrated, locally relevant, and capable of generating lasting social impact for Indonesia’s education landscape.
This program contributes directly to SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
Salam Inspirasi!
