The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) (INSIGHT) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

The management of the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) trains residents assisted by the Jakarta Correctional Center (Bapas) (Bapas) to become coffee brewers in order to empower the community’s economy.

“Programs like this are to empower the economy in line with government policy to eradicate poverty,” said YIIM General Chair Chrisbiantoro in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Chris said, YIIM has a number of programs that are in line with the government regarding sustainable development that is right on target for the community.

Apart from the inmates, Chris said that the provision of skills involved 15 people from unemployed backgrounds, casual workers, housewives and people with disabilities. “The plan is that the training for prospective baristas will be carried out in four stages,” said Chris.

YIIM collaborates with PT Insight Investment Management to manage corporate social funds to address social problems and care for the community.

Chris said that YIIM and PT Insight Investment Management would focus on holding several trainings to improve the community’s abilities and economy.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Jakarta Correctional Center (Bapas) (Bapas), Heru Prasetyo, appreciated the training held by YIIM involving the residents assisted by Bapas. “This program is good so that the inmates have the ability when they return to society,” said Heru.

The training for prospective baristas was held from 17-19 February 2020 with material regarding types of coffee, barista equipment, experience as a barista and practice of mixing coffee.

After the material training, participants will undergo selection for a two-month internship program and two months of coaching.

Previously, YIIM held hair shaving training for unproductive communities and Jakarta’s assisted residents from 10-14 February 2020.
