On Thursday, October 21, 2020, the Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun Foundation (YIIM), in collaboration with PT. Insight Investments Management, distributed 150 packages of basic food staples, vitamins, and masks to residents affected by Covid-19 in Wamena Kota Village, Wamena Kota District, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province.

The beneficiaries were indigenous Papuans who work as traders of betel nut, areca nut, vegetables, and small-scale farmers.

Before the distribution of food packages, vitamins, and masks, YIIM together with local partners in Wamena conducted data collection and a survey to ensure that the recipients were the right people who were truly in need of assistance.

The distribution of this food assistance also involved a local organization, the Yayasan Keadilan dan Keutuhan Manusia Papua (YKKMP), in which the Chairman of YKKMP, Theo Hesegem, represented YIIM and PT. Insight Investments Management in handing over 150 packages of basic food staples to the beneficiaries. Theo said, “Thank you for the care shown by PT. Insight and YIIM for sharing with us, indigenous Papuans who have had limited access to Covid-19 relief assistance. May their kindness be repaid by God.”

The assistance delivered consisted of:

5 kg of rice

10 packs of instant noodles

1 can of milk

1 tray of eggs

1 bottle of sauce

1 bottle of soy sauce

1 pack of biscuits

1 kg of sugar

1 pack of coffee

The representative of YIIM, Chrisbiantoro, as chairman of the board, said, “This is a form of YIIM’s devotion to the country. We are committed to helping our brothers and sisters throughout Indonesia who are affected by Covid-19. We hope our assistance can ease their burden and that everyone will be given health.”

This program is part of YIIM’s social and humanitarian assistance program and aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal Number 2, to reduce hunger. The food packages provided can at least be used for food consumption for up to 1 month.

Meanwhile, Dwi Anggita Laksmi from PT. Insight Investments Management said, “This social service activity is a form of care from PT. Insight together with our partner YIIM. We hope our assistance can benefit the community, especially the indigenous Papuan community affected by the pandemic.”
