Business opportunities in the air conditioning (AC) service and cleaning sector continue to grow alongside the increasing demand for cooling unit maintenance, particularly in urban areas such as Jabodetabek. To help community members seize this opportunity, the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management organized an AC Service and Cleaning Entrepreneurship Training on June 23-25, 2026, at the YIIM Office in South Jakarta.

The training was attended by 10 participants divided into 5 pairs. This grouping model aimed to instill teamwork habits that mirror real-world field practices, where AC technicians typically work in pairs for efficiency and occupational safety.

Throughout the three-day program, participants engaged in hands-on learning that seamlessly blended theory with practical application. The training was led by Suaib, S.I.P., a seasoned practitioner with over a decade of experience across the AC industry—ranging from installation and troubleshooting technician to owner of an air conditioning service enterprise.

On the first day, participants gained foundational knowledge of air conditioning systems, component functions, and occupational health and safety (OHS) principles. This knowledge provided a crucial bedrock, ensuring participants work safely and professionally when handling cooling equipment.

On the second day, participants delved into core technical skills essential for AC servicing. After examining key components and unit installation principles, participants practiced technical procedures including component assembly and disassembly, connecting indoor and outdoor units, pipe flaring, refrigerant charging, and vacuuming to ensure optimal cooling performance. They were also taught systematic fault analysis for common AC issues and troubleshooting methods.

On the third day, the curriculum shifted to comprehensive AC cleaning techniques. Participants learned procedures for thoroughly cleaning indoor and outdoor units, cleaning components without damaging electrical circuits, and operating specialized wash equipment. Beyond technical capabilities, participants received guidance on technician professional ethics, customer service standards, and effective communication strategies with clients.

Through this training, YIIM hopes that participants not only acquire practical technical capabilities, but also gain the self-confidence needed to forge new pathways toward uplifting their families’ livelihoods. These hands-on skills are projected to unlock viable opportunities for participants to establish independent micro-enterprises or thrive in the ever-expanding cooling service sector.
