For years, Bambang Purbowo worked long, uncertain hours as an online motorcycle taxi (ojek online) driver in Jakarta to support his family. Seeking a more stable and sustainable livelihood, Bambang enrolled in the Barista and Coffee Entrepreneurship Training organized by the Indonesian Inspiration Building Foundation (YIIM) and PT Insight Investments Management.

Despite having no prior experience in food and beverage, Bambang showed exceptional discipline and determination. He mastered espresso extraction, sensory calibration, milk texturing, and mobile cafe management. Recognizing his dedication, YIIM and Insight awarded Bambang a business starter package containing a mobile brewing unit, grinder, and initial ingredients.

Bambang launched ‘Kopi Mas Pur’, serving premium quality, affordable coffee near busy commuter stations and commercial offices. His venture flourished, enabling him to achieve consistent daily income, significantly higher than his previous earnings, while spending more time with his family.

Bambang’s journey illustrates how practical vocational empowerment and targeted asset provision provide hardworking individuals with life-changing opportunities for economic mobility.

This impact story highlights achievements under SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
