On Monday, August 8, 2023, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), alongside the Class I Central Jakarta Probation and Parole Office (BAPAS Kelas I Jakarta Pusat) and civil society groups united under the Community Care for Corrections Forum (Pokmas Lipas), officially signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) establishing the Griya Abhipraya of BAPAS Class I Central Jakarta. The ceremony took place at the BAPAS Class I Central Jakarta Headquarters, located on Jalan Percetakan Negara VIII No. 54, Rawasari, Cempaka Putih District, Central Jakarta.

The ceremonial signing was attended directly by Chrisbiantoro, Chairman of YIIM; Bambang Maryanto, Head of BAPAS Class I Central Jakarta; and representatives of Pokmas Lipas organizations, including Nusantara Learning Center, Mawar Saron Legal Aid Institute (LBH Mawar Saron), the National Narcotics Agency of DKI Jakarta Province (BNNP DKI Jakarta), Yayasan Mutiara Maharani, Sablon Rindu Order, the Islamic Information, Zakat, and Waqf Division of the DKI Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and LBH Imparsial (Inpartit).

The establishment of Griya Abhipraya at BAPAS Class I Central Jakarta aims to foster inter-institutional synergy and cross-sector collaboration in guiding, rehabilitating, and empowering correctional clients holistically. This multi-stakeholder partnership directly advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

In his opening address, Bambang Maryanto, Head of BAPAS Class I Central Jakarta, stated, “Griya Abhipraya will serve as a half-way community home and empowerment hub for correctional clients, energized by vocational training modules from YIIM and our Pokmas Lipas partners. This represents a tangible realization of multi-sectoral collaboration to ensure more effective, sustainable reintegration for correctional clients.”

This partnership reinforces and expands the collaborative alliance established between YIIM and BAPAS Class I Central Jakarta since 2018, specifically centered on vocational skill development and social entrepreneurship for former inmates (correctional clients) to cultivate livelihood independence and brighter futures. Over the years, YIIM has provided a rich spectrum of vocational classes for correctional clients, ranging from barista coffee brewing, barbering, makeup artistry, culinary arts, motorcycle steam washing, and hydroponics, to AC maintenance and servicing training.

Through the institutionalization of Griya Abhipraya, this established cooperation is expected to continuously ignite new hope, instill self-belief, and offer actionable inspiration for correctional clients as they reintegrate productively into society.
