On January 15, 16, and 17, 2021, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), supported by its principal partner PT Insight Investments Management (PT IIM), distributed 100 relief packages comprising basic food staples, vitamins, and protective masks to communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan Province.

This initiative represents an ongoing social and humanitarian relief effort orchestrated by YIIM and PT IIM. Utilizing corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds, the initiative has spanned numerous island regions across Indonesia to ease the economic hardships borne by vulnerable populations during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The basic food packages (sembako) contained rice, eggs, instant noodles, cooking oil, granulated sugar, and milk. To bolster physical immunity, the assistance also included vital supplements such as Imboost and Enervon-C, accompanied by cloth masks produced by alumni of the screen printing vocational training organized by YIIM and PT IIM.

The relief packages were distributed across four administrative districts: West Tarakan, East Tarakan, Central Tarakan, and North Tarakan.

This humanitarian outreach embodies the proactive solidarity of YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management in mitigating the socioeconomic impacts of Covid-19. With the pandemic showing no signs of abating in early 2021, economic conditions for residents in North Kalimantan remained severely constrained.

From mid-2020 through early 2021, the local economy in North Kalimantan suffered notable declines, with agriculture, fisheries, forestry, and tourism bearing the heaviest impact. Consequently, YIIM directed aid toward underprivileged families, laid-off workers, informal sector laborers, and women market vendors whose livelihoods were severely interrupted by the economic shocks of Covid-19.

The Social Assistance Across the Archipelago initiative aligns closely with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 2: Zero Hunger, acting as a safeguard against potential food vulnerability throughout the nation.

In gathering baseline data and executing logistical delivery, YIIM was supported by local community members. During the distribution, community representative Atra Wiyana voiced his heartfelt appreciation: "These food parcels are immensely beneficial for the residents of Tarakan, North Kalimantan. Many individuals in our community had not yet accessed any relief since the pandemic began. We extend our deepest thanks to YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management."

Meanwhile, Dwi Laksmi Anggita Sari (warmly known as Gita), representing PT Insight Investments Management, expressed gratitude for the expansive reach of their corporate social programs: "We are grateful that PT IIM's CSR initiatives have reached so many distinct regions in Indonesia. We hope to continue spreading kindness and supporting the public, especially during this challenging pandemic era that calls for mutual solidarity."

As the Covid-19 crisis persisted across the Indonesian archipelago, YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to mobilizing civic engagement and fostering community resilience through mutual aid and cooperation.
