JAKARTA. The professional barbershop and male haircutting training program represents one of the flagship community empowerment initiatives consistently organized by the Indonesian Inspiration Development Foundation (Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun / YIIM) to create independent livelihood opportunities.

From September 9 to September 13, 2019, YIIM organized the Barbershop Training Batch 3, held at Barbershop Inspirasi in Rawa Belong, West Jakarta. This intensive five-day vocational course was specially designed to equip participants with modern haircutting techniques and practical barbershop operational management knowledge.

A total of 10 participants from diverse backgrounds, including retirees, small traders, drivers, and private employees, actively engaged in every instructional session. Under the guidance of professional instructors, participants learned foundational styling techniques, modern haircut trends, customer service etiquette, and practiced hands-on haircutting on live models.

Through this practical vocational training, YIIM hopes that graduates will be able to launch independent barbershop enterprises or gain employment in the grooming industry, thereby sustainably improving their household welfare and economic independence.

This vocational initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education) through practical skills development, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by empowering vulnerable community members, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
