Hairstyling Training Builds Entrepreneurial Skills for Inmates at Pondok Bambu
Thirty female inmates completed hands-on hairdressing and salon styling training with starter toolsets to prepare for salon careers upon release.

The Indonesian Inspiration Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management conducted an Intensive Hairstyling and Salon Care Vocational Training for 30 female inmates at Pondok Bambu Penitentiary, East Jakarta.
The comprehensive training program covered hair washing and scalp treatment techniques, modern precision haircutting for women and children, blow-drying, hair straightening (smoothing), coloring principles, and salon sanitation standards.
Guided by master hairstylists, each participant practiced directly on mannequin heads and peers, mastering the use of professional salon tools including shears, blow dryers, flat irons, and sectioning clips. The penitentiary salon unit was also furnished with professional haircare products to facilitate ongoing daily practice.
The head of correctional coaching affirmed that salon and beauty services offer high market demand and immediate freelance earning opportunities for women upon release, paving the way for positive social and economic rehabilitation.
This initiative advances SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
Inspiration Greetings!
