Qur’an Teacher Standardization and Certification Program Reaches 30 Educators in Sebatik Island
Thirty educators across the Indonesia-Malaysia border region completed professional Qur'anic teaching certification and standardization training in Sebatik Island.
The Indonesian Inspiration Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management and Kauny Quran Academy organized the Qur’an Teacher Standardization and Certification Training on Sebatik Island, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan.
Located on the frontier border between Indonesia and Malaysia, Sebatik Island faces distinct educational challenges, including limited access to continuous professional teacher development. The training brought together 30 Qur’an teachers and Islamic community educators from various remote villages across the island.
The multi-day curriculum utilized the Kauny memorization methodology—a proven multisensory pedagogical technique integrating visual association, rhythmic articulation, and contextual meaning comprehension. Participants also received training in child-centered pedagogy, classroom management, and character education.
Upon completing assessments, participants received official teacher certifications, instructional manuals, and teaching kits to implement standardized Qur’anic education in their respective learning centers.
This border region educational program advances SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
