Dual Vocational Training in AC Maintenance and Garment Screen Printing for Micro-Enterprises
Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and PT Insight Investments Management organized social entrepreneurship training in AC maintenance and garment screen printing for underprivileged communities to foster economic self-reliance.

From 28 to 30 July 2020, the Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun Foundation (YIIM) together with its main partner PT. Insight Investments Management again held a social entrepreneurship training for small communities. The spirit of this entrepreneurship training was the same as the previous ones, namely in line with the goals of the sustainable development program launched by the United Nations (UN) in the UNSDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals), which was then adopted by the Government of Indonesia into Peraturan Presiden Nomor 59 Tahun 2017 tentang Pelaksanaan Pencapaian Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan.
YIIM wants everyone and every individual to become an agent of change for the progress of the Indonesian nation.
On this occasion, two entrepreneurship trainings were held: AC washing, servicing, and freon refilling training, as well as clothing screen-printing training.
In these trainings, all participants and trainers complied with health protocols by taking a rapid test before the training, wearing masks and gloves, washing hands regularly every 20 minutes, and maintaining physical distance. Each of the two trainings was attended by 5 (five) participants consisting of correctional residents, workers affected by layoffs, odd-job workers, unemployed people, and school dropouts.
The AC washing, servicing, and freon refilling training was held at the YIIM Office located at Gran Wijaya Centre Block F / 62 B South Jakarta. Meanwhile, the clothing screen-printing training was held at the Office of the Balai Pemasyarakatan (Correctional Center) of Central Jakarta, located at Jalan Percetakan Negara VIII No. 54 Central Jakarta.
The AC washing and servicing training was guided by Mr. Suaib who acted as a trainer and practitioner in the field of air conditioning. In the material over 3 (three) days, participants were taught to recognize AC components, recognize problems that arise, recognize the types of freon and how to refill it. Furthermore, on the second and third day, training participants took turns practicing AC washing and freon refilling. The trainer also held interactive question-and-answer sessions with participants who encountered obstacles during practice.
For the clothing screen-printing training, it was guided by Mr. Fadjar Rizki and Mr. Rizky Pratama Putra from the Sudut Kota Screen Printing Community. For 3 (three) days, participants were taught to create basic designs, make screen-printing plates, and mix colors, and for the remaining two days, the participants practiced screen-printing clothing with various motifs.
YIIM hopes that after participating in the training, participants can apply the knowledge and experience gained to start businesses in the field of AC and clothing screen-printing. YIIM believes that businesses in the field of AC washing and servicing and clothing screen-printing have good economic prospects and are not expensive to start.
Chrisbiantoro, Chairperson of the YIIM Management Board, in his remarks said, “Training in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic is a difficult choice; it would be even more difficult if we only looked at small communities affected by Covid-19 without being able to do anything. Therefore, YIIM is present and shares through training programs, of course by implementing very strict Covid protocols.”
YIIM will continue to monitor and provide guidance to participants who have completed the training so that they can become entrepreneurs or at least find employment in accordance with the training material taught.
Suluh T Rahardjo from PT. Insight Investments Management also paid attention to the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Insight, as an investment management company that has a high concern for social and humanitarian issues, strongly supports the economic recovery of small communities.
