Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), supported by CSR funds from PT Insight Investment Management, held training on cleaning, servicing and recharging AC refrigerant for home, office and other building air conditioning units from 4 to 6 March 2020.

The training was attended by 7 (seven) participants from correctional inmates, the urban poor, vulnerable communities, odd-job workers and the unemployed. The event was also supported by the Class I Jakarta Pusat Correctional Center (BAPAS).

The selection of these seven participants went through a screening process, as YIIM had previously announced the registration through social media and offline media across various community groups.

At the opening ceremony, Satoto Biratmoko, a YIIM board member, said to the participants, “We hope this training will benefit participants in building business independence. It can serve as a provision for life.”

Meanwhile, Suaib, the trainer who accompanied the participants throughout the training process, said, “The choice of AC cleaning, service and refrigerant training is the right one, because this skill is highly needed and consumer demand is very large.”

For three consecutive days, from 4 to 6 March, participants received materials and hands-on practice on cooling components, including analyzing problems in the cooling system.

YIIM chose AC cleaning, service and refrigerant training because air conditioners have become an essential need for urban residents, particularly in large cities like Jakarta.

YIIM sees great opportunities in the air conditioning service sector. Therefore, YIIM selected AC service, cleaning and refrigerant training as one of its new programs that will become one of YIIM’s flagship programs.

As a non-profit organization, YIIM is committed to building social entrepreneurship, which is a program to develop business independence based on the number of beneficiaries, not merely profit or pursuing financial gain.

YIIM’s commitment aligns with the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, particularly Article 6, which states the right of everyone to work and to live a decent life.

This training program is also in line with the United Nations General Assembly Resolution on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1 on Ending Poverty, Goal 2 on Ending Hunger, and Goal 10 on Reducing Inequality.
