Prayer Carpets and Quran Manuscripts Delivery for Al-Ikhlas Prayer Hall Ciamis
Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) held a creative handicrafts training workshop for homemakers, teaching practical skills to produce marketable crafts and foster sustainable home-based micro-enterprises.

Handicrafts are far more than artistic self-expression; they represent high-value vocational skills capable of bolstering household financial stability. By combining aesthetic sensibility, meticulous craftsmanship, and accessible materials, handcrafted goods have the potential to grow into resilient micro-enterprises that create new economic opportunities.
Responding to the strong enthusiasm of grassroots women’s communities, a periodic series of Creative and Sustainable Handicraft Workshops was organized. This initiative aims to equip homemakers with marketable artisanal skills, enabling them to achieve greater economic self-reliance right from their homes.
The training was facilitated by Damayanti, an inspiring homemaker and former corporate employee in Jakarta who successfully established her own online handicraft enterprise. Driven by a passion for knowledge-sharing within her neighborhood, she guided participants in mastering practical and commercial craft-making techniques.
The inaugural workshop commenced on April 24, 2018, bringing together 15 enthusiastic participants. In this session, participants mastered the technique of creating scented decorative floral arrangements using a specialized blend of finely grated soap and flour dough. In addition to being easily sculpted into decorative statues, vases, and tabletop ornaments, these aromatic soap crafts offer a long-lasting, refreshing fragrance.
Throughout the program’s progression, the curriculum expanded to cover a diverse range of high-demand artisanal crafts: Aromatic Soap Floristry: Crafting fragrant tabletop floral arrangements and ornamental centerpieces from soap-dough. Felt Accessories & Merchandise: Producing multi-purpose utility pouches, keychains, character doll clocks, and decorated felt jars. * Micro-Entrepreneurship Essentials: Practical training in product packaging, pricing calculation, and online digital marketing.
To date, the program has conducted 4 (four) periodic workshops across various strategic locations, including sessions with the PKK Nuansa Telaga Kalibaru homemakers community in Depok, Jagorawi Golf & Country Club, and South Jakarta. Notably, participants’ creations are supported with collaborative marketing channels, with proceeds reinvested to fund future vocational training cohorts.
This vocational empowerment program directly advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
Through dedication and creative skills, these homemakers prove that economic independence and a brighter family future can flourish right from the living room.
Salam Inspirasi!
