Supported by Insight Investments Management, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) organized the YIIM Webinar Series 2 on March 10, 2026, carrying the theme "Safe & Professional Careers: Understanding Rights and Risks." The webinar engaged 34 participants, predominantly university students and fresh graduates preparing to navigate the professional workforce.

On this occasion, Irfan Melayu, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of YIIM, served as the keynote speaker, sharing profound insights on the vital importance of legal literacy in the workplace. In his presentation, Irfan elucidated that legal understanding extends beyond memorizing statutory rules and articles; it requires grasping the relational dynamics between employees, corporations, and the regulatory frameworks governing both parties.

He emphasized the essential need for prospective professionals to fully comprehend their rights and obligations within employment relationships, including distinguishing between various employment statuses such as fixed-term contracts, probationary periods, and permanent employment. Irfan further underscored the importance of meticulously reviewing and understanding every clause of an employment contract before signing, enabling workers to safeguard themselves legally and professionally from the very inception of their careers.

Irfan also shed light on legal vulnerabilities within digital activities, particularly for younger generations actively engaging on social media or pursuing freelance engagements. Without legally sound written agreements, proving rights and contractual obligations becomes exceedingly complicated should disputes arise in the future.

The event featured an interactive discussion and Q&A session, where participants eagerly raised pertinent inquiries regarding common hurdles faced by students and fresh graduates transitioning into the workforce—ranging from deciphering employment agreements to mitigating legal risks in the digital sphere.

Through this initiative, YIIM aims to empower Indonesia's younger generation with robust legal literacy in employment, equipping them to foster careers that are secure, professional, principled, and socially accountable.
