Pertamina Training & Consulting (PTC), a subsidiary of PT. Pertamina (Persero), once again collaborated with the Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) to hold advanced barista coffee training within the framework of social entrepreneurship.

Social and Environmental Responsibility

This program is part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) of PT. Pertamina Training & Consulting, where in 2022 PTC received a TJSL and CSR award for its consistency in community empowerment.

Previously, PTC and YIIM successfully created new entrepreneurs in coffee, frozen food, and hydroponic vegetables for the 2021 batch, who have since opened businesses across the Greater Jakarta area.

This advanced barista coffee training program was conducted in two phases; 1# an online session via Zoom meeting held on Monday, August 29, 2022. 2# an offline session at Kedai Kopi Inspirasi on Wednesday-Thursday, August 31 and September 1, 2022.

The one-day online advanced barista session was attended by 18 participants who are alumni of the 2021 barista entrepreneurship training. From the total participants, 8 selected participants were chosen to attend the two-day face-to-face (offline) session held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Kedai Kopi Inspirasi, located at Komplek Grand Wijaya Ruko Blok F 62 B, RT 06/RW 01, Pulo Village, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

This face-to-face training was conducted while strictly adhering to COVID-19 health protocols, such as presenting vaccination certificates, wearing masks, taking a COVID-19 self-assessment, maintaining physical distancing, washing hands, and sterilizing equipment used in each session.

Training Materials

The materials taught in this training included a review and deepening of last year’s training material, a review of skills acquired after last year’s training, introduction and practical use of coffee equipment both manual and machine, as well as theory and practice of latte art making.

In addition, participants also learned about coffee shop management, including calculations for starting a coffee business, how to determine the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for products, sales and promotion strategies, selection of appropriate raw materials, and standard operating procedures for coffee shops.

During the event, Okeu Yudipratomo, Corporate Communication & CSR Staff at PT Pertamina Training and Consulting, delivered remarks, stating, “We would like to convey that Pertamina Training & Consulting’s support for this advanced barista coffee training is our commitment to strengthening social entrepreneurship in the community. We hope that the community can become self-reliant and serve as agents for strengthening the community’s economy.”

Furthermore, Mr. Chrisbiantoro, Chairman of the YIIM Board, delivered an opening speech, stating, “We hope that through this advanced barista coffee training, participants can follow the training series wholeheartedly. We also hope that this training can provide benefits as part of our efforts to rise in the post-COVID-19 pandemic situation, spark the spirit of social entrepreneurship, and grow the enthusiasm of the wider community. As echoed by President Joko Widodo’s tagline, ‘Recover faster, rise stronger.'”

This program aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 1 to prevent poverty and Goal 8 to support inclusive and sustainable economic growth and decent work for all.
