On June 4, 2021, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) visited the coastal community of Kampung Baru Nelayan in Cilincing District, North Jakarta. The visit aimed to carry out social welfare support while strengthening Covid-19 mitigation efforts in coastal neighborhoods. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.

Previously, on May 26, 2021, YIIM received a donation of 350 medical face masks from SOLA Indonesia. This followed a contribution received on May 25, 2021, from the Community Service Division of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Psychology at Tarumanagara University (UNTAR) amounting to IDR 1,970,000 (one million nine hundred seventy thousand rupiah), dedicated to children’s nutrition packages and essential vitamins for pandemic response.

During the event, supplemental food and vitamins were distributed to 30 children from coastal fishing families in Cilincing, North Jakarta, courtesy of UNTAR’s Faculty of Psychology BEM. Both YIIM and UNTAR student representatives hoped this nutritional boost would safeguard children’s physical health and resilience amidst the pandemic.

In addition to child nutritional aid, YIIM distributed 50 medical masks provided by SOLA Indonesia to the local fishing community. This donation reflected SOLA Indonesia’s dedication to curbing Covid-19 transmission within densely populated coastal settlements.

Mr. Sunarto, a representative of the local fishing community, voiced his appreciation: “Our sincere thanks to YIIM and SOLA Indonesia for their genuine care toward us, coastal fishermen in Jakarta. Awareness regarding mask-wearing still needs improvement here. Hopefully, this initiative will encourage our community to be more diligent in wearing masks.”

Intan, one of the recipient children, shared her joy: “Thank you very much YIIM and older brothers and sisters from UNTAR for the food and vitamins, we are very happy. We wish you continued success.”

The remaining masks from SOLA Indonesia and food packages from BEM UNTAR were subsequently scheduled for progressive distribution to other vulnerable communities in need across the ongoing pandemic period.
