The Foundation for Inspiring Indonesia’s Development (YIIM), together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), reaffirmed its dedicated mission to fostering grassroots social entrepreneurship for underprivileged communities across Indonesia. On September 15, 2023, YIIM and INSIGHT presented a comprehensive commercial coffee brewing equipment grant to one of YIIM’s vocational barista alumni, Humam Hasan (43), affectionately known as Humam.

Prior to joining YIIM’s social entrepreneurship training, Humam was a correctional client (former inmate) under the supervision of the Central Jakarta Balai Pemasyarakatan (BAPAS Class 1). Between March and June 2018, Humam completed tiered vocational barista training followed by an intensive apprenticeship at YIIM. Through steadfast dedication and professional excellence, Humam was appointed Head Barista at Kopi Inspirasi until June 2023. In addition, Humam was entrusted as a master barista trainer in PT INSIGHT’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs, empowering economically vulnerable individuals and persons with disabilities.

The commercial coffee equipment grant delivered by YIIM and INSIGHT was thoroughly selected to ensure immediate business readiness. The package included: a barista bar counter, commercial espresso machine, naked portafilter, coffee thermometer, electric milk frother, electric coffee grinder, digital coffee scale, cooler box, cup sealer machine, espresso shot glasses, gas stove, refrigerated beverage showcase, manual hand grinder, silicone tamping mat, knock box container, electric kettle, paper cup display rack, 58mm calibrated tamper, café string light fixtures, graduated measuring beakers, multipurpose ingredient bottles, stove gas regulator, packaging bags, decorative café bulbs, and an initial inventory of paper cups.

This equipment assistance stands as a tangible demonstration of solidarity from YIIM and INSIGHT, providing marginalized individuals with the concrete means to establish self-reliant micro-enterprises following social entrepreneurship training.

The official handover took place directly at Humam’s coffee stall, named “Pila Pili Kopi”, presented by YIIM representative Romadhona on Jalan Kotabumi Ujung No. 16, RT 08, Kebon Melati, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta (opposite Jami’e Darussalam Mosque). Operating under an innovative modernized coffee cart model, Humam crafts specialty drinks such as milk coffee, hazelnut milk coffee, americano, creamy latte, and butterscotch milk coffee, alongside refreshing non-coffee favorites including caramel choco cheese, signature chocolate, matcha latte, mochachino, and lychee basil seed coolers, accessibly priced between IDR 10,000 and IDR 17,000. In addition to serving neighborhood customers at his physical cart, Humam actively markets his beverages through digital food delivery apps.

Receiving the business equipment, Humam expressed heartfelt gratitude: “I offer my deepest thanks to YIIM and INSIGHT for this incredibly comprehensive business equipment grant. This assistance represents great hope and an empowering new beginning for me to operate an independent enterprise, allowing me to increase my income and provide an honest livelihood for my family.”

This equipment grant forms part of YIIM’s enduring social entrepreneurship ethos advanced since 2018 alongside strategic partners such as PT Insight Investments Management. The initiative directly resonates with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 2, 8, 10, and 17, enacted nationally under Presidential Regulation No. 59 of 2017 concerning the Implementation of SDGs Achievement.

YIIM remains widely receptive to institutional collaborations and philanthropic donations from all sectors to empower economically disadvantaged communities, steadfast in incubating resilient grassroots entrepreneurs through sustainable community programs.

Salam Inspirasi!
