Computer Skills and Office Application Training for Reintegration of Correctional Clients in Central Jakarta
YIIM, in partnership with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) and Universitas Bung Karno, held applied computer training for parolees at the Central Jakarta Class I Correctional Center (BAPAS). Participants were equipped with office software skills to enhance employment opportunities and entrepreneurial independence.

The Foundation for Inspiring Indonesia’s Development (YIIM), in collaboration with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) and Universitas Bung Karno (UBK), organized an applied computer literacy training program for correctional clients (reintegrating parolees) at the Central Jakarta Balai Pemasyarakatan (BAPAS Class 1).
The training was tailored to furnish correctional clients with practical information technology skills and digital competencies. The primary objective of this program was to expand employment opportunities and cultivate entrepreneurial potential following their release by providing comprehensive proficiency in basic operating systems, office applications, and essential computer tools.
Held over two consecutive days on October 17–18, 2023, the training took place at the Central Jakarta BAPAS Class 1 Office on Jalan Percetakan Negara VIII No. 54, Rawasari, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta. The program was officially inaugurated with opening addresses delivered by leadership representatives from YIIM, INSIGHT, the Dean of UBK’s Faculty of Computer Science, and the Head of BAPAS Class 1 Central Jakarta.
The curriculum was instructed by seasoned faculty members from Universitas Bung Karno’s Faculty of Computer Science, led personally by the Dean of FIKOM UBK, Mr. Alexius Ulan Bani, S.T., M.Kom., supported by computer science lecturers Mr. Yoga Listi Prambodo, S.Kom., M.Kom., and Mr. Asruddin, S.Kom., M.Kom.
In his address, Chairman of the YIIM Board Mr. Chrisbiantoro emphasized: “YIIM and INSIGHT regard community economic self-reliance as our utmost priority. We fully recognize the critical urgency of equipping correctional clients with viable vocational competencies to support their sustainable reintegration into society. Through this computer workshop, we hope our participants discover their potential and unlock promising business and career opportunities ahead.”
The Dean of FIKOM UBK, Mr. Alexius Ulan Bani, remarked: “As academics, we believe our social calling extends far beyond university classrooms into uplifting and supporting our fellows at correctional institutions. Learning motivation can be sparked from countless avenues, particularly through mastering modern digital tools that open new horizons.”
The program was officially launched by the Head of Central Jakarta BAPAS Class 1, Mr. Bambang Maryanto, who stated: “We firmly believe that robust multi-stakeholder collaboration is the cornerstone of our clients’ success and independence. Cross-sector support from government bodies, academia, and private organizations not only fortifies our rehabilitation programs, but also guarantees our clients a genuine opportunity to start a dignified new chapter in life. Let us sustain this impactful synergy.”
Mr. Muhammad Isnaeni Setiawan, CSR Coordinator of PT Insight Investments Management, added: “We are proud to support this vocational training for correctional clients alongside our strategic partner YIIM. This initiative resonates deeply with INSIGHT’s core ethos that every managed investment must deliver tangible, positive social impact to society.”
This program embodies the dedication of YIIM and INSIGHT toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), representing PT INSIGHT’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL). It is hoped that this initiative inspires wider sectors to champion inclusive socio-economic empowerment for all.
