Nutritional Food Package Distribution and Health Screening to Address Child Stunting in Alor Regency
YIIM, supported by PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), distributed 1,000 supplemental nutritional packages to stunted toddlers, pregnant women, and nursing mothers in Adang Village, Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. Distributed via health posts, the aid accelerates recovery from acute child malnutrition.

On February 11, 2023, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), generously supported by PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), launched a targeted humanitarian nutrition intervention by delivering nutritional aid packages to stunted children, expectant mothers, and nursing mothers in Adang Village, Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.
According to health surveillance data from the Alor Regency Health Office, chronic childhood malnutrition (stunting) recorded across 454 integrated community health posts (Posyandu) in Alor reached 3,136 cases throughout 2021. The acute condition was driven by inadequate dietary intake stemming from systemic economic hardships among families living below the poverty line. This vulnerability was further aggravated when Tropical Cyclone Seroja battered Alor in early April 2021. Beyond causing fatalities and physical casualties, Cyclone Seroja destroyed local fishing fleets and agricultural plots, severing the primary economic lifelines of hundreds of breadwinners.
Reflecting the corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment of PT Insight Investments Management, YIIM forged a cooperative synergy with WeCare.id, Sahabat Alor, Resolve Asia, and the Sahabat Alor Community to execute the #1000KadoNutrisi stunting alleviation initiative for Alor's children. A total of 66 beneficiaries, encompassing stunted infants, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers, received comprehensive nutritional food assistance designed to reverse severe malnutrition and enhance dietary well-being.
The program commenced with an introductory orientation on the 1,000 Nutrition Packages, baseline questionnaire administration, educational counseling on healthy balanced nutrition, and pediatric health check-ups measuring children's height, weight, and clinical nutritional parameters. The distributed nutritional food supplies included fresh sea fish, assorted fresh vegetables, tofu, tempeh, and chicken eggs. These nutritious commodities were purposefully curated for their high micronutrient density and vital proteins essential for child development, fetal nourishment, and maternal vitality.
This collaborative humanitarian initiative advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 2 (Zero Hunger, Achieving Food Security and Improved Nutrition), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being for all at all ages), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The nutritional package distributions will continue systematically from February through March 2023. To guarantee measurable outcomes, the Sahabat Alor Community and local health authorities are conducting rigorous monitoring and periodic evaluations of the recipients' nutritional status and child growth metrics.
