Distribution of Eco-Friendly Fishing Equipment for 32 Fishermen Groups in Cilincing
Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), supported by PT Insight Investments Management, distributed productive fishing gear and marine processing equipment grants to 32 traditional fishing collectives in Kampung Baru Nelayan, Cilincing, North Jakarta.

On December 7, 2020, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), supported by its primary partner PT Insight Investments Management, distributed productive business equipment grants to 32 artisanal fishing collectives located in Kampung Baru Nelayan, Cilincing District, North Jakarta, DKI Jakarta Province.
The fishing collectives receiving assistance were categorized into four distinct seafaring groups: first, sero fishermen, who catch marine fish utilizing fixed weir trap nets (sero) constructed offshore.
Second, sawit fishermen, who work to clean and collect residual palm oil around passing transport barges.
Third, kijing fishermen, traditional divers who descend to the seafloor to harvest kijing clams and bivalves; and fourth, blue swimming crab (rajungan) fishermen, who catch crabs using specialized trap nets. In total, the grant benefited 32 fishing collectives, each comprising 5 to 8 fishermen.
The provided supplies were environmentally sound traditional tools, consisting of mesh waring nets, sero weir nets, crab trap nets, heavy-duty buckets for marine oil salvage, evamats rubber floor mats, non-slip protective sandals, boat bilge water drainage hoses, and air compressors complete with diving air supply hoses.
In surveying recipients and executing the coastal distribution, YIIM collaborated with local grassroots community initiatives: the Sudut Kota community and Sekolah Diutara volunteers.
During the equipment handover, Nandita, Founder of Sekolah Diutara, conveyed her appreciation: "Heartfelt thanks to YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management for caring for the artisanal fishermen of Jakarta's coast. Our local fishing community has rarely received adequate attention and has long lacked access to developmental aid. We hope this equipment grant boosts the fishermen's morale in earning a living and enhances their household incomes."
This initiative forms an essential part of YIIM's broader Social Assistance Across the Archipelago Volume 2 umbrella program. Previously, YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management delivered agricultural machinery and tools to farming groups in East Lampung and Wonogiri, as well as food aid packages across various Indonesian regions.
Representing PT Insight Investments Management, Dwi Laksmi Anggita Sari (Gita) also offered her encouragement: "We hope our assistance helps ease the burdens of affected fishing families, and we pray that Indonesia returns to health and vibrancy swiftly."
Salam Inspirasi!
