Emergency Flood Relief and Pediatric Nutritional Aid Distribution in Bukit Duri
YIIM delivered emergency humanitarian logistics, toddler essentials, and food provisions to flood-affected residents in Kampung Melayu Kecil 1 Dalam, Bukit Duri Urban Village, Tebet, South Jakarta.

On January 6, 2020, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) conducted an emergency humanitarian relief mission by distributing vital aid packages to flood victims residing in RT 04 and RT 03 RW 011 Kampung Melayu Kecil 1 Dalam, Bukit Duri Urban Village, Tebet District, South Jakarta.
This location was prioritized as it was among the hardest hit by the severe flooding that occurred between December 31, 2019, and January 1, 2020, triggered by extreme rainfall and the overflowing Ciliwung River, which submerged the residential neighborhood up to two meters high.
Coordinated with local RT and RW leaders, the relief items were directed to approximately 350 households comprising roughly 800 individuals, including 100 toddlers (children under five years old).
Representatives from YIIM’s key partner, PT Insight Investment Management (INSIGHT), were also present on-site, extending heartfelt compassion and direct support to residents enduring the disaster’s aftermath.
In this distribution, YIIM placed special emphasis on fulfilling the urgent needs of toddlers while meeting the basic sustenance needs of the community. Delivered via two box trucks, the relief cargo included baby porridge, disposable baby diapers (pampers), rice, sausages, liquid milk, Energen cereal drink, mineral water, essential medicines (such as cajuput oil, telon warming oil, Tolak Angin herbal remedy, Panadol, Diapet, and Vicks baby chest rubs), as well as ready-to-eat shredded meat (abon) and Indomie instant noodles.
Toddlers were prioritized because young children are exceptionally susceptible to waterborne infectious diseases and post-disaster malnutrition, which pose serious threats to their health and physical development.
During the handover, YIIM Chairman Chrisbiantoro shared words of solidarity with the gathered families: “Our foundation extends our deepest sympathy to all affected families. We pray that this assistance eases your daily burden, particularly in shielding vulnerable toddlers from disease and nutritional vulnerabilities as the community works to recover.”
Representing the local community, Pak Salam, Head of RT 04, conveyed his appreciation: “We are extraordinarily grateful for this timely assistance. These supplies will meet our immediate daily needs while we clean up and rebuild our homes. As you can see, our settlement is still in disarray, but your warmth gives us renewed strength to rise back on our feet.”
Budi Cahaya, representing PT Insight Investment Management, also shared supportive remarks: “On behalf of PT Insight, our thoughts are with everyone affected by this flood. We sincerely hope this aid brings relief to families and helps neighborhood activities return to normal as quickly as possible.”
This emergency relief response highlights YIIM’s firm dedication as a non-profit organization prioritizing social and humanitarian causes. May our shared empathy inspire greater kindness and collective resilience.
Salam Inspirasi!
