Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), in collaboration with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), inaugurated a critical connector bridge named "Jembatan Inspirasi" (Inspiration Bridge) on Thursday, January 5, 2023. The permanent bridge was constructed to secure vital connectivity and mobility for local coffee growers and agricultural producers belonging to the Kartika II Farmers Group, situated on the fertile slopes of Mount Bromo in Krajan Hamlet, Taji Village, Jabung District, Malang Regency, East Java Province.

The Kartika II Farmers Group represents dozens of smallholder farmers whose livelihoods depend on coffee cultivation alongside supplementary crops such as vegetables, fresh fruits, and cloves across the mountainous terrain of Mount Bromo.

The infrastructure project materialized following an assessment mission by the YIIM team in July 2022 aimed at identifying systemic hurdles faced by agricultural communities in Malang Regency. During the survey, farmers in Taji Village voiced urgent concerns regarding a dilapidated bridge whose chronic instability regularly paralyzed agricultural logistics and daily transit.

Prior to this intervention by YIIM and INSIGHT, the crossing was merely a fragile, semi-permanent bamboo and wooden trestle. Every year, flash floods and wood rot destroyed the makeshift crossing, requiring farmers to repeatedly pool resources to rebuild it from scratch. When the crossing washed away, the transport of coffee harvests, vegetables, and horticulture to regional markets ground to an immediate halt. For the community, this crossing is a vital economic artery and the sole direct thoroughfare connecting Taji Village with Pandansari Lor Village.

The inauguration ceremony was convened directly at the bridge site, attended by the Chairperson of the Board of YIIM, Chrisbiantoro, and executive staff; the Head of the Kartika II Farmers Group, Ngaturi; Taji Village Government Representative, Sugeng Santoso; and Taji Village Military Supervisory Non-Commissioned Officer (Babinsa), Sergeant Major Heri Purnomo. Around 30 local farmers joined the ceremony, which was enriched by local cultural gratitude rituals including the ceremonial shattering of water vessels (keprok and potong kendi), traditional gamelan melodies, and jaranan kepang folk performances.

In his opening remarks, YIIM Chairperson Chrisbiantoro emphasized: "Through this collaborative humanitarian and corporate social responsibility endeavor, we have brought this permanent bridge to reality. We hope this infrastructure substantially bolsters the operational productivity of our coffee and horticultural farmers in Taji Village. It is deeply gratifying that the developmental roadmap we formulated together in mid-2022 has materialized today. Moving forward, there will be no more worries regarding rotten planks, collapsing decks, or flood-damaged crossings."

Speaking on behalf of the sponsoring partner, Isnaeni Setiawan, CSR Coordinator of PT Insight Investments Management, highlighted the firm's corporate ethos: "PT INSIGHT operates as an asset management company with a unique institutional purpose: we invite our investors to achieve financial returns while actively generating positive societal and environmental transformation under our guiding banner of 'Transforming Investments to Social Impact'. Erecting this permanent bridge demonstrates our tangible commitment to elevating farmers' livelihoods. We trust that Jembatan Inspirasi will catalyze productivity and lasting community prosperity."

Expressing the community's heartfelt gratitude, Kartika II Farmers Group Leader Ngaturi noted: "We extend our profound thanks to PT Insight Investments Management and Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun. Previously, traversing this crossing was arduous and hazardous for residents and farmers. Today, alhamdulillah, transit between Taji Village and Pandansari Lor Village is smooth, safe, and easily accessible."

This infrastructure initiative directly advances the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Salam Inspirasi!
