Integrated Entrepreneurship Training: Nurturing Baristas, Frozen Food Culinary, and Urban Hydroponics MSMEs
Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) collaborated with PT Pertamina Training and Consulting (PTC) to organize comprehensive vocational entrepreneurship training covering barista coffee brewing, frozen food production, and organic hydroponic farming for local communities.

Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) in strategic collaboration with PT Pertamina Training and Consulting (PTC), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero), organized an integrated community empowerment initiative to prepare aspiring entrepreneurs in barista coffee, frozen food culinary production, and organic hydroponic farming.
PT Pertamina Training and Consulting fully funded and supported this initiative under its corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL/CSR) framework.
This entrepreneurship training program is firmly rooted in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) institutionalized by the Government under Presidential Regulation Number 59 of 2017 on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The program specifically advanced:
SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). This impactful joint initiative commenced in August 2021 and concluded in mid-October 2021.
Public enthusiasm for the initiative was remarkably high, as reflected in the extensive registration numbers and beneficiary breakdowns:
The Barista Coffee module drew 2,007 applicants, alongside an extensive waiting list of 13,621 individuals. Selected trainees included: Batch 1 online training with 20 participants; Batch 2 online training with 30 participants; and Batch 1 hands-on offline training for the top 3 outstanding participants. Additionally, the barista educational webinar drew 264 interactive participants on Zoom and 310 viewers on YouTube.
The Frozen Food Culinary module attracted 1,995 applicants. Successful candidates included: Batch 1 online training with 15 participants; Batch 2 online training with 15 participants; and in-person hands-on culinary workshops for top performers in Offline Batch 1 (3 participants) and Offline Batch 2 (3 participants).
Meanwhile, the Hydroponic Farming module registered 424 applicants, with 17 selected trainees completing the intensive course. The accompanying hydroponics webinar engaged 86 participants via Zoom and 165 live viewers on YouTube.
The training adopted a modular, multi-batch framework combining virtual classrooms (online) with limited in-person practicums (offline). This hybrid structure conformed stringently to government health protocols to mitigate Covid-19 risks. Core theoretical knowledge and tiered professional techniques were imparted through interactive digital classes.
For the barista course, participants completed comprehensive online coursework, after which the top 3 best-performing students in each batch were selected for intensive, in-person barista masterclasses at Kedai Kopi Inspirasi YIIM.
For the frozen food culinary course, online training took place over 3 consecutive days, culminating in the selection of the 3 top-ranking students from each batch for hands-on culinary and packaging sessions with expert chefs at YIIM’s headquarters.
For the hydroponic farming course, instruction spanned 2 days of virtual workshops, scheduled to conclude with an inaugural harvest and ongoing remote agricultural mentorship by master farmers for trainees who established home growing beds.
To extend inclusive learning to the thousands of applicants who could not be accommodated in the intensive cohorts, the organizers held thematic webinars, disseminating foundational entrepreneurial knowledge and practical techniques to the wider public.
Salam Inspirasi!
