“Teaching is a great act of optimism,” observed Colleen Wilcox, capturing the noble dedication of educators shaping character and civilization.

The spirit of National Education Day remains an enduring foundation for honoring and advancing education in Indonesia. Celebrating this milestone, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), in collaboration with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), extended dedicated appreciation to community Quranic teachers (Guru Mengaji) and Islamic educators.

This gift distribution formed part of the “Ramadan Inspiration for Humanity” series conducted throughout the holy month to spread goodwill and show gratitude to those who selflessly serve society.

The aid was presented to 12 Islamic religious and Quranic teachers residing across West Jakarta (2 recipients), North Jakarta (1 recipient), Central Jakarta (6 recipients), Depok (2 recipients), and South Tangerang (1 recipient). Each received a care package containing prayer gear, staple food provisions, and biscuits valued at IDR 500,000 per package.

This social appreciation initiative directly aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Among the recipients of the Ramadan care packages was Mrs. Nurlaelah, a Quranic teacher at TPA Al-Hidayah 2 in Cengkareng Timur, West Jakarta. Mrs. Nurlaelah currently serves as the sole breadwinner for her family, as her husband suffers from kidney failure. She expressed her gratitude: “Alhamdulillah, I am truly grateful for this assistance from YIIM and Insight. This support is immensely helpful for our family’s needs during Ramadan, especially during these challenging pandemic times. May Allah reward the kindness of everyone involved.”

Similarly, Mr. Sangadi, a mosque custodian and volunteer Quranic teacher in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, shared: “Thank you for the attention from YIIM and INSIGHT. I am deeply thankful that attention is being shown to educators, particularly Quranic teachers who serve purely with a spirit of volunteerism.”

YIIM and INSIGHT dedicated this National Education Day initiative to Quranic teachers in recognition of their vital role as community moral pillars who educate the younger generation on a voluntary basis. Although modest, this token of appreciation aims to inspire broader societal care for religious educators as a heartfelt Eid gift.

As a non-profit foundation, YIIM remains open to collaboration and donations from all sectors. Every contribution entrusted to YIIM is delivered directly to legitimate beneficiaries, including underprivileged families, pandemic-impacted communities, correctional clients, and vulnerable groups across Indonesia.
