Spreading Joy and Complimentary Haircut Services in Andara Waste Picker Community
Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and PT Insight Investments Management distributed basic food packages, cash donations, and nutritious iftar meals to dozens of scavenger and informal worker families at Andara Settlement, South Jakarta.
Embracing the blessings of the holy month of Ramadan, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), in collaboration with PT Insight Investments Management, conducted a social outreach program under the GEMPITA Ramadhan banner. The humanitarian initiative took place on Friday, March 14, 2025, in the Andara Waste Pickers Community (Kampung Pemulung Andara), South Jakarta.
Kampung Pemulung Andara is an informal settlement where the majority of residents earn a modest livelihood as waste collectors and recyclers, navigating daily constraints in basic infrastructure and public services. Day in and day out, they persevere amidst demanding economic hardships. Through GEMPITA Ramadhan, YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management sought to share warmth, deliver practical relief, and spread joy to these hardworking families during the sacred month.
The program commenced with a complimentary haircut service that was met with immense community enthusiasm. Children, teenagers, and elderly residents eagerly lined up to receive clean, professional haircuts—a simple gesture that brought noticeable refreshment and joy. Parents accompanying their children bonded in a lively, communal atmosphere, enjoying relaxed conversations while awaiting their turns.
Following the grooming session, the team proceeded with the distribution of 50 wholesome Iftar meal packages. The YIIM field team, bolstered by volunteers from the "Berbagi Sarapan" initiative, distributed the meals directly to community members. The food distribution proceeded smoothly, orderly, and in high spirits of fellowship.
In addition to providing immediate sustenance and cheer to marginalized families, this outreach aligns with YIIM's dedication to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Through GEMPITA Ramadhan, YIIM aspires to invigorate the spirit of communal solidarity and social responsibility, inspiring diverse partners to collaborate in uplifting the lives of underserved communities.
