On August 1, 2022, the Indonesian Inspiration Building Foundation (YIIM), supported by PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) and in collaboration with the Class 1 Central Jakarta Correctional Center (BAPAS), held Vehicle Steam Wash Entrepreneurship Training for correctional clients and the general public. This empowerment activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 1 on eradicating poverty, Goal 8 on decent work and economic growth, and Goal 17 on partnerships for achieving the goals.

The Vehicle Steam Wash Entrepreneurship Training is a realization of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between YIIM and BAPAS Central Jakarta to assist and provide skills for correctional clients. Amid the current pandemic, many people, especially correctional clients, face economic difficulties. It is expected that by participating in the training organized by YIIM and INSIGHT, participants will gain positive impact to become economically independent.

The training event was attended by Ari Samanto, Head of the Adult Client Guidance Section, and Riccana Rosita, a YIIM board member. The training began with an opening speech by Ari Samanto. Ari Samanto stated, “Thank you to YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management for once again organizing skills training for BAPAS Central Jakarta clients. This training collaboration is part of our efforts to foster independence among the clients so they acquire life skills that can be applied when they return to society. In this opportunity, we urge participants to make the most of this training and fully absorb the knowledge provided by the trainers.”

Following this, Riccana Rosita said, “As a social institution supported by PT Insight Investments Management, YIIM is once again holding Wave 1 of the Vehicle Steam Wash Entrepreneurship Training. Since 2018, YIIM and BAPAS Central Jakarta have provided numerous skills training sessions for BAPAS Central Jakarta clients, producing alumni who have become independent entrepreneurs. It is hoped that through this Vehicle Steam Wash Training, participants will be motivated to make changes that will benefit themselves and their families.”

A total of 9 participants attended the Vehicle Steam Wash Skills Training (Wave 1), including 6 correctional clients from BAPAS Central Jakarta and 3 members of the general public. The training ran from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM WIB. Participants were taught theory by the trainer, including introduction to equipment and materials for vehicle steam washing, the mechanism of washing and drying vehicles, tire dressing techniques, and identifying business opportunities in the vehicle steam wash industry. After the theoretical session, all nine participants practiced steam washing vehicles and used standard equipment such as electric dynamo steam cleaners. Following Wave 1, a second wave will be organized for correctional clients and members of the public from pre-prosperous backgrounds, school dropouts, and victims of layoffs (PHK).
