Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) proudly presents an inspiring profile of culinary vocational training alumna, Mrs. Wanmayetti. Affectionately known as Ibu Yetti, she stands as a beacon of empowerment among more than 100 culinary training alumni who have successfully established and expanded independent food enterprises.

Ibu Wanmayetti’s journey of resilience serves as a tangible indicator of YIIM’s contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

Her inspiring path began when a friend informed her of an entrepreneurship training program organized by YIIM. Embracing the opportunity, Ibu Yetti and more than 20 homemakers and young women associated with the Gemah Ripah Cooperative registered for culinary training organized by YIIM and supported by its primary partner, PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT).

The capacity-building program was supported by corporate partner PT Titan Intirasa Sumber Sejahtera. Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Titan Baking provided culinary workshop facilities, experienced instructors, and baking ingredients for all participants.

The culinary masterclasses were hosted at the Titan Kitchen on Jalan Cikajang Petogogan, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, where Ibu Wanmayetti honed her skills during the 4th Batch in 2019.

The Gemah Ripah Cooperative (KGR) community unites homemakers across the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek). Most members reside in densely populated urban neighborhoods facing severe financial constraints, with many lacking steady employment or surviving on erratic incomes.

Among them, Ibu Yetti bore the heavy burden of providing for her household’s daily living costs through home-based pastry and snack making.

Utilizing modest kitchen utensils, she initially baked goods only when sporadic orders arrived. Fueled by determination to improve her family’s standard of living, Ibu Yetti submitted an application for seed capital assistance to YIIM and INSIGHT.

Empowered by this micro-capital injection, Ibu Yetti took the bold step to expand into catering meals under the brand RR (Rice Box Rakyat). Her hearty rice box meals were priced affordably between IDR 10,000 and IDR 20,000 per portion. In addition to daily lunch boxes, she fulfilled holiday cookie orders, retailing between IDR 50,000 and IDR 65,000 per container.

Through persistent effort, Ibu Yetti achieved monthly revenues ranging from IDR 1,000,000 to IDR 2,000,000. While actively working to scale her business further, Ibu Yetti remains profoundly grateful that her enterprise became a vital economic lifeline during the grueling Covid-19 pandemic.

Going beyond personal business success, Ibu Yetti chose to pay it forward by serving as a culinary trainer in a workshop jointly organized by YIIM and the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) in Denpasar, Bali, on November 25–27, 2020.

The cooking expertise she acquired through YIIM was imparted directly to witnesses and victims of terrorism—predominantly survivors of the Bali Bombings—as well as survivors of sexual violence protected by LPSK.

In addition, she frequently conducts culinary coaching sessions for the Indonesian Association of Families of the Disappeared (IKOHI). For Ibu Yetti, the opportunity to generate lasting social impact and empower fellow survivors stands as an extraordinary life milestone.
