In celebration of World Ocean Day falling on June 8, the Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun Foundation (YIIM), supported by PT. Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), held an environmental conservation program on June 25, 2022, with the tagline #AdaKebaikanDiSetiapInvestasimu, located on Kelapa Island, Thousand Islands.

The event was attended by Andrean Malta, Head of Retail Sales Distribution and Business Alliances at PT INSIGHT; Chrisbiantoro, Chairman of YIIM; Muhammad Nuralim, Secretary of Kelapa Island Village; Safaatul Anam, Chairman of the Kelapa Tunggal Pokdarwis (Tourism Awareness Group); Petra Gabriel Michael, also known as Jebraw, an environmentally conscious influencer; the community of Kelapa Island; and investor guests from PT. INSIGHT.

The series of activities carried out during this event included: economic empowerment for fishing communities through frozen food cooking training, planting mangrove seedlings on the coast of Kelapa Island, and coral reef rehabilitation in the coastal area of Kelapa Island.

In his remarks, Andrean Malta, Head of Retail Sales Distribution and Business Alliances at PT INSIGHT, said, “This program is held in the framework of World Ocean Day. This program is a form of our concern for the environment on Kelapa Island. Furthermore, we are also an investment company whose profits are allocated for social activities, benefiting the wider community, including the people of Kelapa Island.”

Chrisbiantoro, Chairman of the Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun Foundation, added, “This environmental conservation program is supported by PT. Insight Investments Management to provide benefits to the people of Kelapa Island. The mangrove planting and coral reef rehabilitation activities can improve the environment around Kelapa Island, and the frozen food training activities can train the skills of the mothers on Kelapa Island.”

Muhammad Nuralim, Secretary of Kelapa Island Village, also stated, “The mangrove planting and coral reef rehabilitation activities can protect the surrounding sea. And the frozen food cooking training can train the mothers of Kelapa Island to improve their businesses.”

The frozen food cooking training was held in the side yard of RPTRA Nyiur Melambai. This cooking training demonstrated the making of frozen fish-vegetable nuggets, led by Mrs. Wanmayetty, a 2019 culinary training alumna under YIIM. The fish ingredients for the nuggets were purchased directly from Kelapa Island fishermen. This cooking training was attended by 17 mothers from Kelapa Island and Harapan Island. During the cooking training, the mothers were very enthusiastic. After the frozen food cooking training concluded, participants received training certificates and goodie bags.

Simultaneously, environmental conservation programs were conducted in the coastal areas of Kelapa Island. First, the planting of 2,000 mangrove seedlings together with 20 investor guests from PT INSIGHT, assisted by 10 local residents and directly accompanied by the Kelapa Tunggal Pokdarwis. Second, the rehabilitation of 10 coral reef modules in the coastal area of Kelapa Island at depths of 1.5 to 3 meters, assisted by 10 local residents.

This contribution is a form of the company’s concern for the environment and the local economy. This program also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically number 1 (No Poverty), number 13 (Climate Action), and number 14 (Life Below Water).

The Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun Foundation, as a non-profit organization, is open to all parties who wish to support or donate in any form. Thus, every donation given to YIIM will be directly channeled to the beneficiaries in need and those who are less fortunate.
