On August 5, 2025, via Zoom Cloud Meeting, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and Insight Investment Management, in collaboration with Sahabat Danurdara, Bassar Community, and Lindungi Hutan, successfully held the online talkshow Youth for Climate Action (Y4CA) Batch 2, as part of an environmental campaign series connecting youth, communities, and the private sector. Under the theme “Empowering Youth, Greening the Future”, this event opened a space for dialogue, education, and collaboration to build real action in addressing the climate crisis.

Y4CA is a collaborative program that aims to provide space for youth participation in climate change issues through educational, creative, and participatory approaches. After the success of the first batch, Y4CA Batch 2 presents a new format including digital content competitions, online campaigns, symbolic tree planting actions, and interactive online discussions.

The talkshow began with remarks from YIIM’s representative, who emphasized the importance of youth involvement in environmental sustainability. Azhar, Treasurer of YIIM’s Board, stated that climate change mitigation cannot proceed without the active role of young people.

“We believe that climate change mitigation cannot progress without the engagement of young people. Through Y4CA, we want to open a space for learning, networking, and taking action together for a greener future,” he said in his opening remarks.

The talkshow was attended by 32 participants from various backgrounds, who actively took part in the discussion and Q&A sessions. The participants’ enthusiasm reflected the growing awareness of environmental issues among young people and their eagerness to take on a role.

The discussion session featured three speakers who brought perspectives from different sectors. Isnaeni, a representative of PT Insight Investments Management, shared her views on the importance of the private sector supporting environmental movements led by young people. She highlighted that continuous collaboration between companies and youth can create broader and more sustainable environmental impacts.

Miftachur Robani, CEO of Lindungi Hutan, emphasized the urgency of ecosystem restoration in response to the climate crisis. In his presentation, he explained that young people have great potential to drive conservation efforts through well-organized local initiatives, including tree planting and forest area preservation.

Meanwhile, from the perspective of a young person experienced in running environmental programs, Nikita Shaqilla emphasized that caring for the environment can start anywhere, including through personal experience and digital activities. In her view, young people do not have to be experts or activists to make an impact; awareness, willingness to learn, and simple actions such as spreading correct information or adopting a sustainable lifestyle are enough. She also highlighted the importance of support and spaces for young people’s enthusiasm to grow and contribute in tangible ways.

As part of engagement in the Y4CA Batch 2 program, talkshow participants also received tree planting certificates as a tangible contribution to Y4CA’s reforestation campaign in Jabungan, Semarang. Although they did not physically plant the trees, they contributed to greening efforts that will be reported and documented in the Y4CA Batch 2 Youth Climate Newsletter publication.

This talkshow is part of YIIM’s commitment to broadening collaborative spaces between youth, the private sector, and communities in creating a more sustainable future.
