Aulia Mouryningtyas (21 years old) is one of the inspiration scholarship recipients awarded by the Indonesian Development Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) and PT. Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) in 2021. Aulia is currently in her eighth semester at the Mitra Keluarga Bekasi Timur College of Health Sciences (STIKes) majoring in Nutrition. Aulia’s Grade Point Average (GPA) in her last semester was 3.55 (three point fifty-five).

This girl born in Bekasi is the first of two children. Her younger brother is currently in the 12th grade of high school. Her father works as a driver for a company, and her mother is a homemaker. Aulia lives in a housing complex in the Cibitung area, Bekasi. The majority of the residents there work, with an average education level of high school and college.

During her studies, Aulia lives with her family. Aulia chose the Mitra Keluarga Bekasi Timur College of Health Sciences (STIKes) as her place to continue her education because she wanted to adjust to the distance from home and because she wanted to enter the health sector. Aulia also expressed her reason for wanting to attend college,

“In my opinion, college is important, Ma’am. True, knowledge can come from anywhere. But it can also serve as proof to others that my parents are great because they were able to send me to college.”

Financial Difficulties During the Covid-19 Pandemic

At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Aulia experienced obstacles due to her parents’ financial limitations in affording Aulia’s and her brother’s school fees. Then, when Aulia was offered a scholarship by a company, she immediately submitted a scholarship proposal.

“My family is well-off, Ma’am, but during the pandemic, everything declined. So at that time, I immediately applied for a scholarship, because my brother also goes to a private school, making the payments even heavier.”

Aulia feels grateful that her scholarship application was immediately approved during this Covid-19 pandemic. She also feels relieved that, thanks to the scholarship provided by YIIM and INSIGHT, her family’s finances have been helped. Finally, Aulia had the opportunity to receive the scholarship starting from semester 5. Aulia has been working hard in her studies, maintaining her GPA and ensuring it doesn’t decrease.

Activeness During Studies

During her studies, Aulia has been active in organizations, such as serving as a staff member of HIMA (Nutrition Student Association) in the editorial section for the 2018/2019 period and as the head of the theater group for two periods, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020. Besides organizations, Aulia is also active as an event committee member, such as serving as the secretary in a nutrition seminar.

In addition to being active in organizations, Aulia, along with four of her friends, started a business selling tacos under the name Taco Damas. This business started as a result of an entrepreneurship course in the sixth semester. Eventually, Aulia and her friends continued this taco-selling venture.

In running this business, Aulia sells on a pre-order system every Saturday. The products sold are tacos priced between IDR 15,000 and IDR 19,000. The profits earned are used for Aulia’s daily needs. However, Aulia is currently taking a break from selling because she needs to focus on her studies, such as Field Work Practice (PKL) and her thesis.

Aulia hopes to succeed in becoming a nutritionist and work in her field. She also expressed her hopes for YIIM and INSIGHT,

“I hope the company remains strong and that more people can receive scholarships in order to help others achieve their dreams.”
