Fransisca Natalia’s Inspiring Journey: From Barista Trainee to Successful Coffee Entrepreneur and Business Consultant
Through the entrepreneurship mentoring program by YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), barista alumna Fransisca Natalia successfully expanded "Kedai Kopi Sasca", opening a new outlet and becoming a coffee consultant. Continuous guidance strengthened her business management capacity and financial independence.

Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), in collaboration with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), is dedicated to running community economic empowerment programs designed to foster financial independence and cultivate resilient entrepreneurs for long-term welfare.
A shining product of this empowerment effort is Fransisca Natalia P.S., affectionately known as Sisca (40 years old), an alumnus of the 2020 Barista Training organized by YIIM and INSIGHT. Equipped with practical barista skills, Sisca successfully launched her own coffee shop, “Kedai Kopi Sasca,” in 2020. By 2023, her venture had expanded to 3 branches, with all her coffee products attaining Indonesian National Standards (SNI) certification.
Continuing her business growth, Sisca inaugurated her second branch at Sampan Bujana Sentra Menteng, followed by a third outlet established in early 2023 in Cimanggis. Similar to her Menteng outlet, the Cimanggis location collaborated with Ranup Resto Aceh as a complementary beverage provider. Beyond managing commercial operations, Sisca also actively established independent barista training classes.
Sisca has successfully held two batches of barista workshops, each spanning three intensive days. The first batch graduated 6 participants, while the second batch accommodated 8 participants. For a fee of IDR 800,000, students received hands-on technical materials and daily catering. The curriculum covered barista fundamentals, espresso and manual brewing equipment operations, and various specialty coffee recipes.
Her grassroots training initiatives subsequently paved the way for an official partnership with the Bekasi Center for Vocational and Productivity Training (BBPVP Bekasi) under the Ministry of Manpower (KEMNAKER). The partnership began when the Head of BBPVP Kemnaker Bekasi visited the partner restaurant and witnessed Sisca’s training sessions firsthand. Impressed by her structured teaching methodology, he encouraged her to submit a formal training proposal.
“A visitor at the restaurant happened to watch my training program. He was the head of the vocational center. He asked about the syllabus and encouraged me to submit an official proposal. Because it is a national vocational center, the curriculum had to be synchronized with national standards. The program proposed was ‘Barista-preneur,’ integrating Cost of Goods Sold (COGS/HPP) calculations and comprehensive coffee shop management, ensuring participants aren’t just trained to be employees, but are empowered to launch their own micro-enterprises,” Sisca recalled. Seizing this valuable opportunity, Sisca established a formal legal entity named CV Sasca Bermasa Inspirasi in early 2023 to meet administrative requirements.
Following a 3-month verification process, Sisca secured a one-year training partnership with BBPVP Kemnaker Bekasi. The 20-day per batch curriculum adheres strictly to the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI). Graduates receive official certification from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) and undergo on-the-job training. The inaugural batch commenced successfully in April 2023 with 16 participants.
In addition to running her shops and training academies, Sisca has also flourished as an independent coffee business consultant since late 2022. This endeavor began when a close friend sought her guidance to set up a coffee enterprise. Sisca provided end-to-end consulting, from initial concept planning to grand opening. “It started from helping a close friend set up a coffee cart and later a full cafe. Eventually, I was compensated professionally at friendly rates. Soon through word of mouth, more business owners hired my consulting services. I visit their premises and coach them on operational management,” Sisca explained. She currently oversees multiple consulting projects spanning Jakarta, Tangerang, Bandung, and Purwokerto.
Furthermore, supported by her husband who has professional experience in Food and Beverage (F&B), Sisca expanded into snack box and boxed meal catering. Her culinary business is regularly entrusted to cater corporate meals for various programs at a national television network, supplying between 20 and 50 meal packs per order.
Sisca’s journey stands as a vibrant testament to how skills training and relentless perseverance can blossom into an inspiring entrepreneurial ecosystem.
