On Thursday, October 12, 2023, the Foundation for Inspiring Indonesia’s Development (YIIM), in collaboration with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) and the Carenang District Administration in Serang Regency, Banten, conducted a comprehensive beauty and makeup vocational training workshop. Bearing the theme “Entrepreneurial Spirit Igniting the Local Economy of Carenang Community”, the workshop was attended by 25 participants comprising female members of Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) and early childhood education (PAUD) school principals and educators from across Carenang District. The session took place productively from 08:30 to 15:00 WIB.

The event commenced with welcoming remarks, opened by Mrs. Alvinna Amir, Chairwoman of Dharma Wanita Persatuan of Carenang District: “First and foremost, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful support from YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT). May this training provide a shared space for us to hone practical soft skills, as consistent practice in cosmetology can unlock viable livelihoods for our families. I encourage all participating mothers and young women to ensure these skills go beyond personal vanity—sharing them with relatives and friends as an empowering avenue toward financial self-reliance and a healthy channel for self-expression.”

The second address was delivered by Mr. Isnaeni Setiawan, CSR Coordinator of PT INSIGHT: “This marks our second collaborative engagement with the Carenang community, and we are proud to champion this female empowerment initiative funded by the CSR contributions of PT Insight’s mutual fund investors. We hope this training serves as a stepping stone to future vocational programs in partnership with YIIM, driven by the participants’ strong dedication to uplifting household welfare across Carenang.”

Secretary of the YIIM Board, Mr. Imam Fadchurrozi, stated in his address: “As an institution dedicated to grassroots social entrepreneurship, YIIM has launched training across numerous regions, including Carenang. We sincerely hope this workshop inspires fresh business initiatives in beauty and cosmetology that stimulate localized economic resilience.”

The workshop was facilitated by lead trainer Regita Cahyani, supported by an assistant instructor. Regita is an accomplished alumna of YIIM’s vocational beauty classes who successfully established Gitaacms Wedding and attained professional certification from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP). Trainees were equipped with hands-on practice, training modules authored by YIIM and the instructional team, and complete cosmetic starter kits provided in collaboration with the cosmetics brand MAZAYA.

The training curriculum covered theoretical analyses of skin typologies and cosmetic brush applications, followed by live facial cleansing and cosmetic application demonstrations. Trainees then performed independent makeup applications on live models under personalized supervision. The interactive Q&A session generated enthusiastic engagement, addressing advanced contouring, selecting appropriate foundation formulas for varied skin tones, and navigating market entry as an independent beauty artist.

This initiative reflects the sustained dedication of YIIM and INSIGHT in advancing governmental programs that invigorate entrepreneurial mindsets and foster micro- and small-scale economic vitality within local communities.
