Frozen Food Culinary Entrepreneurship Training for Underprivileged Communities, Correctional Clients, and Persons with Disabilities
YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management held frozen food culinary entrepreneurship training for underprivileged individuals, disabled persons, and correctional clients, teaching hygienic processing methods, vacuum packaging standards, and product pricing calculations.
On August 22, 2022, the Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun Foundation (YIIM) together with PT. Insight Investments Management held a frozen food cooking entrepreneurship training conducted in person at the YIIM Office, South Jakarta. This training is one of the flagship programs of the community empowerment program which aims to improve skills and create new entrepreneurs. This training is in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 1 to reduce poverty and number 10 to end inequality.
The training began with an opening from Riccana Rosita as a YIIM board member. She stated, “This frozen food cooking entrepreneurship training is one of our programs to provide a platform for the community to improve their skills. Hopefully, through this training, participants can gain new knowledge and start their own businesses.”
The training was held from 10:00 WIB to 16:00 WIB. There were 15 participants attending the frozen food cooking training, including 5 participants with disabilities, 3 BAPAS clients, and 8 participants from the general public. The participants were guided by two trainers who are alumni of YIIM’s frozen food training, namely Ambar Yuliasiwi and Susiliawati Muryani Berlian. The menus taught in the frozen food cooking training were Chicken Cordon Bleu and Chocolate Banana Croquettes with Melting Chocolate.
Participants were taught starting with theoretical lessons from the trainers, including introduction to cooking ingredients, food preparation techniques, packaging methods for frozen food, and calculating selling prices for a frozen food business. After the theory, participants directly practiced making and packaging food for frozen products.
The training activity concluded with the handover of certificates to participants who had attended the training by Achmad Fanani Rosyidi as Program Manager of YIIM. “Hopefully this training will be beneficial for all participants and after attending this training, hopefully you will be enthusiastic to start your own business. This is not the end, but this is the beginning towards a better future.”
