Irma Chaerunisyah (41 years old), commonly known as Mrs. Irma, is one of the alumnae of the makeup training program organized by the Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun Foundation (YIIM) together with PT. Insight Investments Management in collaboration with Revlon in 2020. This program is one of the community economic empowerment initiatives aimed at improving the economy of pre-prosperous communities. This program aligns with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG number 1 on ending poverty and number 2 on ending hunger.

Mrs. Irma is a single parent. Currently, she lives with her five children and her parents in a house in the Cileungsi area, Bogor. In her daily life, Mrs. Irma is a homemaker focused on taking care of her children.

Starting from a Hobby to Becoming a Main Occupation

Mrs. Irma first entered the world of makeup artistry in 2016. In her youth, she enjoyed dressing up and applying makeup. This passion led her to study the field of makeup artistry. She learned autodidactically and also by attending various seminars and workshops, one of which was the makeup training organized by YIIM and PT INSIGHT.

By participating in the training organized by YIIM and PT INSIGHT, Mrs. Irma’s makeup techniques improved significantly, further motivating her to learn and opening the door for her to start offering makeup services. She gradually began working as a makeup artist, starting within her own neighborhood. The first time she earned income, she received Rp500,000 for bridal makeup. This first experience became one of her marketing strategies to make her services widely known. This work has also become Mrs. Irma’s primary source of income to support herself and her family.

Business Expanding and Growing

Not feeling satisfied yet, Mrs. Irma continued to learn makeup artistry. Now, she has grown further, securing makeup jobs in various areas including Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) as well as Yogyakarta. Not only working as a freelancer, Mrs. Irma is also often offered work by vendors and studios.

Currently, Mrs. Irma works as a bridal makeup artist for 4-5 clients per month and as a graduation makeup artist for more than 10 clients per month. Her average monthly net income is now Rp10,000,000. Additionally, she currently works with two assistants.

Mrs. Irma’s spirit in realizing her dream is an inspiration for young people; there is no such thing as giving up when it comes to achieving a dream. Mrs. Irma hopes that her makeup artistry business will continue to grow, and she wishes to further develop her talent in the field of makeup artistry.
