Pastry and Cookie Baking Entrepreneurship Training for Underprivileged Communities and Persons with Disabilities
YIIM, supported by PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), conducted a pastry entrepreneurship training program on cookie making for 12 underprivileged individuals and persons with disabilities in Jakarta. Participants learned to produce florentine and peanut cookies to kickstart their independent culinary businesses.

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the Foundation for Inspiring Indonesia’s Development (YIIM), supported by PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT), convened a social entrepreneurship baking and pastry training program focusing on artisanal cookie production for underprivileged community members and persons with disabilities.
This workshop represented the first batch in a scheduled three-part series of culinary and baking entrepreneurship initiatives organized progressively by YIIM and INSIGHT. In this inaugural session, participants were trained in the art of crafting florentine cookies and peanut balls.
A total of 12 participants took part in the training, comprising 6 individuals from economically vulnerable households, 4 correctional clients (former inmates) under the supervision of the Central Jakarta Balai Pemasyarakatan (BAPAS Class 1), and 2 deaf/hard-of-hearing participants. The curriculum incorporated fundamentals of entrepreneurship, micro- and small-business licensing, introduction to baking tools and ingredients, practical hands-on baking, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculation simulations, and interactive discussions.
Held at the YIIM Office on Jalan Grand Wijaya Centre Blok F/62B, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, the session ran from 10:00 to 15:30 WIB. The training was guided by Mrs. Ambar Yuliasiwi as lead instructor, supported by Mrs. Umaroch as assistant instructor.
The opening ceremony was attended by executive representatives, including Mr. Chrisbiantoro, Chairman of the YIIM Board; Mr. Isnaeni Setiawan, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Coordinator of PT INSIGHT; and Mrs. Riccana Rosita, Treasurer of the YIIM Board.
Opening the event, Mr. Chrisbiantoro stated in his address: “YIIM has been actively serving the community for 10 years, and one of our flagship initiatives is social entrepreneurship training across various vocational skills, including baking. Throughout this journey, we have been consistently supported by our partner, PT INSIGHT. It is our sincere hope that all participants optimize this opportunity to gain knowledge, build hands-on experience, and apply these skills to become self-reliant entrepreneurs.”
Mr. Isnaeni Setiawan, CSR Coordinator of PT INSIGHT, noted on the occasion: “PT INSIGHT was established as an investment and asset management firm that offers investors the opportunity to grow wealth while simultaneously fostering positive change through our CSR programs. In line with our tagline ‘Transforming Investments into Social Impact’, we invite the public to invest while creating tangible social benefits for communities. In partnership with YIIM, we consistently execute CSR initiatives that generate real impact toward grassroots economic independence.”
Mrs. Elly Widiyawati, one of the training participants, expressed her appreciation: “Our heartfelt gratitude goes to YIIM and PT INSIGHT for providing us with this baking skills training. We hope this workshop equips us with practical knowledge and fresh inspiration to become economically self-sufficient.”
