On August 18, 19, and 20, 2020, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) once again organized a social entrepreneurship training to alleviate the socioeconomic burdens of communities impacted by COVID-19. On this occasion, YIIM hosted an apparel screen printing workshop at the Central Jakarta Correctional Center (Balai Pemasyarakatan / Bapas Kelas I Jakarta Pusat) on Jalan Percetakan Negara VIII, Central Jakarta, DKI Jakarta Province.

This vocational program was realized through a close partnership with PT Insight Investments Management—an investment management company deeply dedicated to social and humanitarian causes—and with the institutional support of Bapas Central Jakarta under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.

In 2020, this workshop represented Batch 2 Group 2, following the earlier successful completion of Batch 2 Group 1 held on July 28, 29, and 30, 2020.

Group 2 consisted of 6 trainees, including correctional clients under Bapas supervision, underprivileged community members, laid-off laborers (PHK victims), and informal gig workers. Throughout the training, participants and trainers strictly adhered to preventive health measures, including wearing face masks and face shields, maintaining physical distance, and washing their hands every 20 minutes to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

Led by master trainer Fadjar Rizki, the coaching team instructed trainees over three full days in stencil photo emulsion (afdruk), screen printing ink formulation, and the essentials of running a printing business, followed by two days of intensive hands-on printing practice featuring diverse motifs and technical styles.

Representative of PT Insight Investments Management, Budy Cahaya, remarked, “This training is expected to revitalize the MSME sector. We hope that community members affected by COVID-19 can rise up, stay healthy, and remain economically productive.”

Following this workshop, instructors will continue providing technical mentorship to ensure participants achieve true self-reliance. In addition, qualified participants will be awarded starter equipment grants to help them establish their own independent screen printing micro-enterprises.
