The Indonesian Inspirasi Foundation for Development (YIIM) through social funds from PT. Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) has produced many small entrepreneurs, such as those in the culinary field. This social program aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Number 1: No Poverty. YIIM is committed to encouraging alumni of entrepreneurship empowerment training to achieve a better standard of living.

Not stopping at improving the welfare of people within its reach, YIIM is determined to create agents of change who also spread knowledge and inspiration to others who still struggle with access.

Sri Wahyuni, or commonly known as Mrs. Sri, is one such example. As an alumna of culinary entrepreneurship training, Mrs. Sri did not stop after starting her business. She holds onto the principle of social entrepreneurship and continues to spread the benefits of the knowledge she has gained to others who wish to learn. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Mrs. Sri has shared her knowledge on making preservative-free chicken noodles to the public online.

The Struggle of a Single Parent

Meeting family needs alone is certainly not an easy task. Mrs. Sri had to work hard to support herself and her child. Starting as a stay-at-home mother doing odd jobs, Mrs. Sri saw an opportunity when she learned about the cooking training organized by YIIM and INSIGHT.

After participating in the chicken noodle-making cooking training, Mrs. Sri persistently and tirelessly practiced making the noodles. Eventually, she was inspired to create a healthy chicken noodle.

The cooking training focused on cooking and running a chicken noodle business. Mrs. Sri’s perseverance didn’t stop when the training ended. She applied for business capital assistance in the form of cooking equipment to YIIM. After receiving the assistance, Mrs. Sri started her healthy chicken noodle business called “Mie Ayam Inspirasi” (Inspiration Chicken Noodles).

The Healthy Chicken Noodle Business

Seeing the abundance of chicken noodle shops, Mrs. Sri was confident there was a way to innovate her product. She experimented repeatedly by mixing the dough with vegetables, which yielded good results. Mrs. Sri successfully made her own noodles with a variety of vegetables mixed in.

The authenticity and healthiness of the products she sells mean customers don’t need to doubt the quality of Mrs. Sri’s homemade noodles. Currently, Mrs. Sri’s income from selling chicken noodles averages between Rp. 2,000,000 (two million rupiah) and Rp. 3,000,000 (three million rupiah). She believes this income is sufficient to help meet her family’s needs.

Continuously Spreading Benefits

Mrs. Sri is also very open to anyone who wants to learn how to make chicken noodles at her place. Just like YIIM, which always inspires, Mrs. Sri also hopes to inspire and help less fortunate people to become more prosperous. She believes that as social beings, we must help one another. So that when we are gone, all that remains is the goodness we’ve left for those around us.

YIIM is also open to collaboration and donations from any party to advance underprivileged and less fortunate communities. YIIM is determined to continue creating entrepreneurs through community empowerment programs.
