On December 23, 2020, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), alongside its primary partner PT Insight Investments Management, organized an interactive national webinar hosted via Zoom. As an investment management company with deep devotion to social responsibility, PT Insight Investments Management consistently champions social and humanitarian advancement across Indonesia. The webinar engaged 76 participants from diverse backgrounds, including YIIM beneficiaries, university and school students, social activists, and officers from correctional centers (Balai Pemasyarakatan).

This event was organized in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, as well as SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

The keynote address was delivered by the Honorable H. Arsul Sani, S.H., M.Si., Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI).

The second distinguished speaker was Sunarman Sukamto, Associate Expert at Deputy IV of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (KSP).

Joining the panel as the third resource person was YIIM Chairperson Chrisbiantoro, accompanied by Humam Hasan, an inspiring alumnus of YIIM's Barista entrepreneurship training who now serves as Head Barista at Kopi Inspirasi and is an undergraduate scholarship recipient at the Faculty of Economics, Bung Karno University.

In his presentation, H. Arsul Sani, S.H., M.Si. presented a factual overview of correctional challenges in Indonesia, highlighting prison overcrowding reaching 83% overcapacity, with facilities accommodating 135,675 inmates nationwide.

Furthermore, recidivism rates stood at 18%, according to official data released by the Directorate General of Corrections as of December 22, 2020.

Arsul Sani noted: "What YIIM is accomplishing through entrepreneurial training for former inmates and residents of correctional facilities is exceptionally positive and deserves comprehensive support. While such initiatives have been initiated before, civil society's dedicated contribution is indispensable for the reintegration and sustainable empowerment of former inmates."

Arsul Sani further explained: "We will actively advocate for the revision of Law No. 12 of 1995 on Corrections to be prioritized in the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) to upgrade regulatory empowerment. The framework we aim to develop is an 'Industrial Correctional Facility' model, turning rehabilitation into tangible economic welfare for inmates."

Complementing the panel, Sunarman Sukamto, Associate Expert at Deputy IV of the Executive Office of the President, underscored the imperative of collaborative synergy between state institutions and civil society organizations to ensure sustainable economic empowerment and social reintegration for former correctional inmates.
