Coffee Barista Vocational Training Cohort 2 for Community Economic Empowerment
YIIM, funded by PT Insight Investments Management, organized the Batch 2 Coffee Barista Training of 2020 for underprivileged participants and individuals impacted by Covid-19 to create new employment avenues.

From August 3 to August 8, 2020, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) once again rolled out its community economic empowerment initiative through the Coffee Barista Training Batch 2 of 2020.
This vocational program was fully supported by PT Insight Investments Management, a premier national investment management firm demonstrating high social responsibility and profound concern for humanitarian issues.
Organized amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the primary objective of this training was to alleviate the socioeconomic strain on vulnerable communities while revitalizing community-level economic resilience and stimulating Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management consistently join forces to incubate resilient, innovative, and self-sufficient entrepreneurs destined to invigorate the MSME sector.
The training sessions took place at the YIIM Headquarters located in Grand Wijaya Centre Block F/62B, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Beneficiaries were organized into two learning cohorts: Group 1 comprising 6 (six) participants completed an intensive cycle on August 3–5, 2020, followed by Group 2 with 6 (six) participants on August 6–8, 2020.
To prioritize occupational health and safety, all participants and instructors strictly observed COVID-19 health protocols, including undergoing rapid screening tests, wearing masks and protective gloves, maintaining physical distancing, and handwashing every 20 minutes at dedicated sanitation stations provided on site.
Over the three-day curriculum, each cohort received a comprehensive blend of theory and hands-on practice. In the theoretical modules, trainees studied Indonesian coffee bean profiles, commercial barista equipment handling, and professional hospitality standards. Instructors also distributed written training manuals for ongoing self-study.
Over the subsequent two days, trainees engaged in rigorous practical brewing, mastering diverse espresso and specialty beverage preparations. Instructors also guided sensory cupping exercises, training participants to discerningly identify roast and brew quality attributes.
Chairman of the YIIM Board, Chrisbiantoro, urged all participants in his welcoming address to embrace the learning process with utter dedication.
“Please do not miss a single session of this training. Learn as diligently as possible, because every module is vital. Make the most of this free training opportunity so that you can all develop into reliable coffee entrepreneurs and inspire others,” Chrisbiantoro emphasized.
YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management provided this training entirely free of charge, presenting an invaluable stepping stone for beneficiaries to enhance their livelihoods.
Following this workshop, YIIM and the instructional team will evaluate and select outstanding graduates to participate in a two-month intensive internship at the Kopi Inspirasi Cafe housed within the YIIM Headquarters.
Salam Inspirasi!
